Employees often do not understand how to take advantage of the retirement plan in which they participate. When an employee receives a Summary Plan Description (SPD), Summary of Material Modification (SMM), 204(h) Notice, or some other written document or notice from their employer (or an agent of their employer), they seldom read it, let alone understand what the document says.
